Windows Vista RC1 Available for Download

Microsoft has finally released Vista RC1 for everyone to download. You will need to join Windows Vista Customer Preview Program to get the product key. If you have done so for Vista Beta 2, you already have the product key which is the same. The download page is here .

When Vista Beta 2 was first available, it’s very hard to download the ISO image because of the network congestion. However, it seems like the demand for Vista RC 1 is not that great. I was able to download it in a few minutes. Anyway, I am going to try it on my MacBook and see how it does.

BTW, don’t forget to check MD5 sum for your download. When I downloaded the ISO image for Vista Beta 2, I didn’t check the MD5 sum. It was a serious mistake. I ran into a lot of installation problems and wasted several hours because the ISO image was corrupted. Microsoft has included MD5 and SHA1 signatures for this download. You can find them on the download page. You can use the free command line tool fsum.exe from FastSum.com to check it. Download fsum.exe here.
