One user has requested this application. It a tactical glide computer for the Pocket PC operating system. The original program is available as a cab file which can be installed on a regular PDA running PocketPC operating system. The installation on PNA like Navigon 2100 GPS is not straight forward. I just made this program to run on my Navigon 2100. The version I use is XCSoarPPC2003.ARMV4.5.2.4.cab . When I ran it on my Navigon 2100, it recognized the GPS port automatically and retrieved the coordinates. I am not sure how to use and configure the program. I only know its configuration directory is on /My Documents/XCSoarData/ . This directory is erased every time you hard reboot the GPS, so it has to be changed. If you know how to change it. Please tell us in the comments section.
To use it, just download the file and unzip it to your SD card. I have included all the necessary files for it. You should be able to run it using FileManagerCE on the desktop or use MyApps to add a shortcut, if you use my unlock package. The recommended location for the directory is Script/programs/XCSoar on the SD card.
I am making this download free to everyone, but please do not re-distribute the files. Just tell your friends to visit this post for download location. Here is the link to the download.

I have been searching for a dictionary program for my Mio C230 for a long time. Finally, I found one that’s working. It’s the Free Dictionary from Tilde Tech. The installation is not that straight forward, so I am writing down the steps. It requires .Net Compact Framework, so you’ll need to have my unlock release 4.1 or later to run it.
- There are two files you need to download. The first one is the Dictionary Kit. It contains the dictionary files. The second file is the program itself. Unfortunately, there is no direct download of this file, you need to visit PocketGear to “buy” it for $0. Here is the link to the product page. You will not be charged with the download, but you have to add it to the cart and check it out.
- After you downloaded the two files, run them and get them installed on your Windows PC. The programs and dictionary files are installed in this directory.
C:Program FilesTildeTech
- Browse to the folder in step 2 and copy the following dictionary files to a directory of your choice on your SD card.
Easy.dct
Medium.dct
Standard.dct
Hard.dct
UKEnglish.dct
WordNet.dct
words.def
- We need to copy the FreeDict.exe now. Before you copy the FreeDict.exe to the SD card, make sure your system allows you to view hidden files. Here is the tutorial is you don’t know how to enable it. Browse to this directory.
C:Program FilesTildeTechPocketPC
Note that this is different from the directory in step 2 and 3. Right click on FreeDict.exe and select Properties. Uncheck the Hidden box and click on OK to exit the dialog box.

- Copy the FreeDict.exe in step 4 to the directory you created on the SD card with the dictionary files.
You can now move the SD card to your Mio C230 and either use FileMan CE to invoke it or put it on the desktop. Note that FreeDict runs better in portrait mode, so you might want to rotate the screen before you invoke it. As you can see in the first screenshot, the top menu is missing like other .NET applications on Mio C230, but it doesn’t affect the functionality of the program. There are also some trial games and one full version of Hangman in C:Program FilesTildeTechPocketPC . You can move them to the SD card using the methods in step 4.

This is the PocketPC port of the Dungeon Master from the late 1980’s on Atari. I have written a small script to help run the game. Execute run.exe in the directory to play it.

This is another software requested by my reader. It’s not free, but you can run it in simulator mode. Unlike the other programs, the program has to be in \Program Files\ directory and all the other files have to be in \My Documents\ directory. Since we don’t have direct access to \Program Files\ and \My Documents\ directories, I wrote an installation script (install.exe) to achieve it. You need to run install.exe every time you hard reset your unit.
After you install the program, use run.exe to run the actual program. Note that run.exe is a script to invoke WinPilotVFR.exe in simulator mode. If you have purchased WinPilotVFR, you can run it in GPS mode. Edit run.mscr and make sure the RunWait command is like the following.
RunWait (“\Program Files\WinPilotVFR.exe”, “/d”)
I have created an icon for it. You can download the icon here.

When I created the new category for the programs I found for Mio C230, I thought you might be able to run these programs on other Mio GPSs or other Windows CE based Personal Navigation Assistant. I decided to name this category Programs for PNA.
These programs are tested using Mio C230 which runs on Windows CE Core 5.0 with ARM CPU. If you found that the program is working for your device, please drop us a note so other people knows about it.

I have got some requests for a photo slide show program. This is it. You need a copy of AYGSHELL.DLL which I didn’t include in the package. A reader has warned about distributing AYGSHELL.DLL is illegal. Even though I don’t know if the claim is true, I decided not to distribute it for now. You can get it from a lot of places. [Update:] Tim Rude has pointed out the AYGSHELL.DLL I have distributed in the past is actually not a MS product and it’s legal to distribute it. I have included the DLL in the package now. Thanks, Tim!
Use FileMan CE to invoke XnPocket.exe in the directory or create a shortcut on the desktop. Please refer to this post, if you don’t know how to put it on the desktop.
