The Nextar 43LT comes with photo viewer and MP3 player, but no media player is included. By using the Games feature of iGo Amigo, I was able to install the HPC media player on it. You do not need to unlock it to use the media player. Here are the steps.
- Download the zip file from here.
- Connect the 43LT to the computer using a USB cable. The cable is not included, you have to purchase it. Alternatively, you can just take out the SD card while the unit is turned off and insert the SD card to a card reader of your computer.
- Unzip the zip file downloaded in step 1 and copy the folder to iGo/content/games on the SD card.

- Safely remove the USB cable. If you take the SD card out of the GPS, eject it from the card reader and put it back to the GPS.
- Hard reset 43LT using the switch on the back.
To use the media player, from the main screen, click on More… -> Games. Scroll down and click on HPC Media Player. Here are screenshots of the media player showing the trailer of Transformer 2.

Nextar 43LT runs on iGo Amigo which has a lot of settings you can change through sys.txt and system.ini. I want to keep a record of the original settings just in case I do something bad.
sys.txt is in iGo directory of the storage card and system.ini is in iGo/save . Note that there are back slashes in the configuration (e.g. lang_path_hint="lang\Lang_English-us.gro"), WordPress is notorious about deleting back slashes. So, do not be surprsied that these back slashes got omitted in the future

While I was searching for info about iGo Amigo, I cam across this Nextar 43LT GPS. It’s the first GPS in North America with iGo Amigo and it also comes with lifetime live traffic update(in selected markets) . Nextar 43LT is only available at Best Buy.
It was on sale last week for $129.99 with free shipping. The price is just right for a 4.3″ widescreen GPS with Text-To-Speech and lifetime traffic subscription. I went ahead and ordered it right away. The shipping took about 2 business days.
Here are some of the photos that I took.

Some of you might ask “Is this GPS unlockable?”. You bet. I have looked at the files and it’s easy to figure out what to change to run external programs. iGo Amigo also was designed to work with other programs, so there is an exit button to quit the program gracefully. The programs I am having now are that the screen size is different from the Mio C230 and Navigon 2100 and the directory structure is different. There are some significant changes that are needed to use my previous unlock package. I’ll keep everyone posted when I have a working package available.
