We just bought some powerful gaming laptops to run experiments. The laptops have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M card. They can handle most of 3D games without a problem. When we tried a script for Psychtoolbox, the script failed because of synchronization failure.
If you’re thinking about purchasing a new GPU, we’d greatly appreciate it if you used our Amazon Associate links. The price you pay will be exactly the same, but Amazon provides us with a small commission for each purchase. It’s a simple way to support our site and helps us keep creating useful content for you. Recommended GPUs: RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070. #ad
This is a very common problem and there is a document with detailed information. I followed some of the suggestions, but they did not solve the problem.
I tried to adjust some settings in the Nvidia control panel. Finally, I found the setting which solves this particular problem. Here are the steps:
- Open up Nvidia control panel.
- Navigate to 3D Settings -> Adjust Image Settings with Preview.

- Click on Use my preference emphasizing and move the slider to Performance.
- Click on Apply.
After we made the change, we ran the script again without any error.
