LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) is a powerful fine-tuning method that enhances AI models with additional styles, characters, or artistic effects without requiring extensive retraining. When applied to the Wan2.1 i2v model, LoRA can help refine motion dynamics, preserve character consistency, and improve overall video quality. This guide will walk you through the process of integrating LoRA with Wan2.1, from setup to practical tips for achieving the best results.
Installation
- If you have not used Wan2.1 Image-to-Video on ComfyUI before, please see this post to get everything setup.
- Download this Lora (there are some nsfw images on the page, proceed with caution) and put it in ComfyUI\models\loras\Wan. I created the Wan directory so that it’s more organized. You can just put it in ComfyUI\models\loras\ if you want.
- Drag the image to the ComfyUI canvas.
- Use ComfyUI Manager to install any missing nodes.
Nodes
This node loads the Lora model. Adjust the strenth to suit your need. Refer to the description of the Lora for range recommended by the Lora author. If the effect is too strong, you can use a smaller value like 0.8.
Some Loras require you to use trigger words to activate the Lora. Again, refer to the Lora page for the trigger words. This Lora’s trigger words are sq41sh squish effect. Include them in the positive prompt.
Examples
Input 1:
Input 2:
Prompt:
In the video, a girl is presented. The rodent is held in a person’s hands. The person then presses on the girl, causing a sq41sh squish effect. The person keeps pressing down on the rodent, further showing the sq41sh squish effect.
Output:
Multiple Loras
If you want to use multiple Loras, you can daisy chain the load lora nodes like this.
Just remember not all Loras work together well. Adjust the strength to achieve desirable results.
Conclusion
By leveraging LoRA with the Wan2.1 i2v model, you can introduce custom motion styles, character-specific details, and enhanced artistic elements to your AI-generated videos. Properly selecting and configuring LoRA weights allows for fine control over video output, ensuring smoother transitions and more expressive animations. With careful experimentation and parameter adjustments, you can optimize your workflow to create high-quality, stylistically consistent AI-generated videos.
