$399.00 Laptop

Do you remember that people get in a long line to buy a $399.00 laptop after Thanks Giving? There are several incidents that people actually fight to buy the laptop they want. Even though you don’t see a $399.00 laptop that often, if you pay close attention to your Sunday circulars, you’ll see one from time to time.

Both of the laptops I use at home died on me. I was in the market for a cheap laptop for home use. Fortunately, I spotted a Toshiba Satellite M105 on sale at Office Depot for $399.00 after$200.00 rebate. I called two nearby Office Depot and they told me it’s out of stock. I still went to the Office Depot near my work because I wanted to see it myself. When I got to the store, there is no ticket for me to purchase. I was kinda disappointed thought I was told before that it’s out of stock. Then, a store employee came by and offered help to check inventory. And they did have one in stock!! Without hesitation, I bought it right away. The cashier told me that they sold a lot of these laptops in a few days. With a price tag like that, it’s not very difficult to imagine why.

What does a $399.00 laptop offer you? I was expected to see a flimsy laptop with cheap components. I was surprised to see that this is actually a quality computer. These are the highlights of the machine.

  • Intel Celeron M 410 CPU at 1.46 GHz
  • 512 MB PC2-4200 SO-DIMMs RAM
  • 14″ 1280×800 widescreen TrueBrite screen
  • ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphic chipset (64MB ~ 128MB shared memory)
  • CD-RW/DVD ROM optical drive
  • 80 GB SATA hard drive
  • 4.98 lbs

Also, the built quality is excellent. Overall, I think it’s an excellent buy. I hope it can last longer than my previous Compaq Presario 720 which is a joke. ( I do make dumb purchases sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚ )
